Short Description of the university
Tomas Bata University in Zlín (TBU) is a progressive and modern public higher education institution following current trends in European and world higher education. At its six faculties, it provides high quality education in a broad spectrum of degree courses – focusing on technical disciplines and technology, natural sciences, economics, arts, informatics, humanities, logistics as well as health care. With a current student population of over 9,000, TBU ranks among medium-sized Czech universities.
The University places emphasis on the development of internationalization. Every year, hundreds of international students study at TBU in degree programs accredited in Czech or English or in exchange programmes. TBU’s student body is multicultural and comes from more than 70 countries worldwide. This creates a rich environment for intercultural interaction, knowledge sharing, and an enriching experience for all students at TBU. International students forming 11 % of the student body help create an international environment at the University.
The University promotes bilingualism in all spheres, and thus increases its capacity to communicate internationally. TBU has been involved in several educational and research projects with key international partners and has supported the accreditation and implementation of joint/double/multiple degree programmes.
The University is regularly successful when evaluated on the international level. In the ranking issued by the reputable British Times Higher Education company, TBU ranks among the world’s top 40 universities established after 2000. According to the World University Rankings published by the British QS company, the University is ranked 92nd among universities in emerging Europe and central Asia.
