Obuda University has achieved a remarkable advancement in the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. The university has climbed into the 601-800 range, marking an impressive leap of over 400 positions compared to the previous year. This ranking places Obuda University as the second among eleven evaluated Hungarian institutions.

This significant progress reflects the effectiveness of the strategic reforms implemented over the past few years. Prof. Dr. Levente Kovács, Rector of Obuda University, emphasized that the focus on enhancing research quality and strengthening industrial relations has been crucial to this achievement.

Since its debut in the THE rankings in 2021, Obuda University has shown continuous improvement, moving from the 1001-1200 range in 2022. The university’s success underscores its commitment to excellence in education and research, reinforcing its position as a leading technical university in Central and Eastern Europe.

The THE World University Rankings assess universities based on 17 performance indicators across core missions, including teaching, research quality, and international outlook. This year’s rankings feature 2,097 universities from 115 countries.

QS World University Rankings


In the 2025 QS World University Rankings, Obuda University continues to strengthen its position globally. The university has been ranked in the 1201-1400 range, highlighting its ongoing commitment to academic excellence, research quality, and international collaboration. This achievement reflects Obuda University’s growing reputation as a leading technical university in Hungary and Central Europe.

Additionally, Obuda University ranks 66th in the QS Europe University Rankings for Eastern Europe. The university’s practice-oriented education and strong ties with industry leaders help graduates secure competitive positions in the job market.
