Course Description:
A team-based course for the transfer and application of theoretical and practical knowledge of research. The main purpose of the course is to encourage and prepare students for research in architecture topics and to prepare for the possibility of doctoral training.
In the first part of the semester, the groups carry out a critical analysis of selected research: understanding, evaluating, and presenting the purpose, methodology and method of data collection. This is the basis of the semester task of building a research plan for a chosen topic, which helps exercising a consistent process and methodology.
Competences:
able to sort, observe, and analyse information collected during the design, implementation and operational processes, and to conclude the lessons, including the feedback into practice
Topics:
14 WEEKS SCHEDULE:
1. week: The purpose of research. Written etiquette and course overview.
2. week: Science or pseudoscience? How to understand, select and present information?
3. week: Literature review. Access to the digital databases as a student.
4. week: Research design with graphical methods. How to set up a research proposal?
5. week: Defining the research topic and research questions.
6. week: Academic writing. How to write a paper? Techniques and references.
7. week: Academic presentation. How to present a paper?
8. week: Consultation
9. week: Presentation of the papers 1.
10. week: Presentation of the papers 2.
11. week: Presentation of the papers 3.
12. week: Semester summary and evaluation.
13. week: Ethics, morality, and politics.
14. week: Developed presentations of the papers
Assessment: 2 tasks during the semester, no test, but presentation of the research tasks, exam
