Course Description:
Students become familiar with the basic mechanical and physical properties of construction materials. Basic physical, mechanical, and hydromechanical properties of the most important structural materials: iron, steel, timber, ceramics, bricks and masonry elements, artificial and natural stones, glass, and polymers.

Assessment: Assignment: Two midsemester tests 2 × 35 points (min. 18 points have to be reached each) with 1-1 repetition possibilities Homework: 30 points (min. 15 points have to be reached) Grades: Below 50,0 points 1- Fail 50-62 points 2 – Pass 63-74 points 3- Satisfactory 75-89 points 4 – Good 90-100 points 5 - Excellent Special exam compensating the midyear tests failures: If a student does not fulfil the requirements of the midyear test minimum requirements but has collected at least 5-5 points in each test; in that case, they will be provided one occasion to make up for it within the study period in the way of a special test containing the whole semester curriculum.
