Erasmus+ Mobility Opportunities Return for Obuda University Students and Staff

The institutional contracting process required to restart the Erasmus+ program has been completed, reopening international mobility opportunities for Obuda University’s students, lecturers and staff. Following the decision of the European Union, the Tempus Public Foundation has also signed the university’s 2026 Erasmus+ institutional grant agreement, which it sent to the university on October 22, 2026. The Erasmus+ mobility program can now fully restart.

Contracting completed, mobility can restart

Following the decision of the Council of the European Union on October 13, 2026, Obuda University can once again take part in the Erasmus+ program as a full participant. The institutional grant agreement, also signed by the Tempus Public Foundation, has completed the contractual process needed for the restart. As a result, the university can begin preparing and administering new mobilities and once again fully carry out its institutional tasks related to the program.

The restart is more than the completion of the contract: the university has also prepared to apply the program conditions and funding rules that have changed in recent years. These affect, among other things, travel and inclusion support, as well as Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs), short, intensive international programs delivered partly online and partly in person.

Obuda University has received funding for a total of five BIPs, which interested faculties can begin organizing as early as the 2026/2027 academic year.

When can the first mobilities start?

Erasmus+ opportunities will return gradually, in line with the different types of mobility and the administrative preparations they require.

Some short-term, intensive international programs and staff mobilities can already take place in fall 2026 and during the 2026/2027 academic year.

For longer study periods abroad, student applications are expected to open in the spring semester of the 2026/2027 academic year, so Obuda University students are expected to begin longer Erasmus+ study mobilities in the fall semester of the 2027/2028 academic year.

How to apply and what options are available for students?

Under the Erasmus+ program, Obuda University students can mainly study at partner institutions abroad or take part in traineeships abroad. Academic results achieved during the mobility can be recognized in their studies at home, following appropriate prior agreement and a recognition procedure.

Applications are made on the basis of calls published by the university. Students should first find out about the available partner institutions, fields of study and mobility periods. When applying, they typically need to indicate their chosen institution abroad, submit the required academic and motivation documents, and prove that they meet the language requirements set by the host institution.

After selection, students prepare their study period abroad with the support of the university and the host institution, including agreeing in advance on the courses and academic requirements.

For lecturers and university staff, Erasmus+ offers mobility for teaching and training. These include opportunities to teach at partner institutions abroad, take part in professional training, and share good practices and experience.

The university will provide information on specific application deadlines, the list of partner institutions, detailed application conditions and available funding in its calls for applications.

Erasmus+ and Pannonia: expanding opportunities for internationalization

Alongside the return of Erasmus+, the Pannonia Scholarship Programme can also play an important role in the internationalization of Hungarian higher education. The two programs offer different opportunities for students and university staff, giving the university community access to several forms of international experience.

International mobility is not only an individual opportunity but also a key driver of Obuda University’s development. Studies abroad, professional exchange, knowledge sharing and new international connections all contribute to developing teaching and research and to further strengthening the university’s international integration.

In recent years, Obuda University has strengthened and expanded its international partnerships and is well prepared for the reopening of mobility opportunities.

The university aims to give as many students and staff as possible the opportunity to gain international experience, to further strengthen its network of international partnerships, and to be an active participant in European higher education and research cooperation.
