Cross-border curriculum developers expand the university's knowledge base

Óbuda University launched its unique initiative, the Carpathian Basin Online Education Centre, nine years ago, and has been developing its exemplary knowledge base ever since. The Online Education Centre of Óbuda University is successful and will continue to enjoy the support of the Hungarian government in the future, emphasised Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén at the welcome ceremony for the curriculum developers from across the border.

- So far 22 Hungarian and 14 cross-border higher education institutions have joined the programme, which offers free courses to students. It is important for our institution that the Government of Hungary and the Deputy Prime Minister of Hungary, Dr. Zsolt Semjén, who is committed to the survival of Hungarians living beyond the borders of Hungary, have supported the programme of Óbuda University.

Thanks to the current RRF 2.1.2. grant of HUF 440 million, we will develop nearly 300 curricula in the next four years and provide the platform with English language access - said Prof. Dr. Levente Kovács.

It is important for both the individual and the nation as a whole that students can learn in their mother tongue, said Dr. Zsolt Semjén. He pointed out that from the point of view of the nation as a whole, the Hungarian language is the "final fortress" for Hungarians, and therefore it is crucial to preserve our mother tongue. He added that it was of particular importance that the Hungarian language should preserve its unity alongside the common language, and that science should be cultivated at the Hungarian level, not just within the borders of the country. The online education centre helps the Hungarian nation to survive, it means the unification of the Hungarian nation in the intellectual, linguistic and scientific fields, he concluded, thanking Óbuda University for its nation-preserving and nation-unifying service. The University's Carpathian Basin Online Education Centre is successful and will continue to enjoy the support of the Hungarian Government in the future, the Deputy Prime Minister stressed.
