Another Step Towards a More Liveable Future – CSUST Summer AI Innovation Camp

As a result of their outstanding performance in the AI Squad course, two students from our faculty were given the opportunity to represent our university at the CSUST Summer AI Innovation Camp, where they worked in teams on the theme of an accessible future.

As part of the project, they developed AI-powered hardware and software prototypes designed to improve accessibility for people with visual impairments.

The event was held in China, where our students had the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge in a competitive environment, going beyond their engineering tasks to tackle a complex innovation challenge.

The professional theme of the project was “Accessible Future.”

Through their participation, our students not only took on a professional challenge but also contributed to shaping a more liveable future.

“It was a particularly rewarding experience to work with a team from a completely different cultural background, discover new perspectives and build a concrete, functional prototype using the resources available to us. Moreover, our task went beyond engineering: we took the entire process from defining the problem all the way through to developing a complete business plan. The whole process felt as though we were building a start-up from the ground up, and we are all very proud of what we accomplished,” said Ádám Varga, a bachelor’s student in Computer Engineering.

“During the event, my teammates and I focused on developing an AI-based accessibility solution designed to assist people with visual impairments. We created both hardware and software prototypes to bring our idea to life, and I am extremely proud that our project ultimately took third place in the camp’s innovation competition. This experience not only helped me develop my technical skills, but also showed me how profoundly artificial intelligence can contribute to the development of accessible technologies,” said Kanan Huseynli, a bachelor’s student in Computer Engineering.

Despite working across different cultural and regional contexts, as well as under a demanding schedule and continuous workload, the two outstanding students of the AI Squad course succeeded in producing a project that we can all be proud of. Their work demonstrated not only the value of knowledge and teamwork, but also contributed to advancing research and development in a field of significant social importance.
