Obuda University Welcomes New International Students
Obuda University welcomed its new international students at Orientation Day events organised at the beginning of the 2026/2027 academic year. The sessions aimed to provide students with essential practical information and help them feel prepared and confident as they begin their studies and life in Hungary.
Two Orientation Day sessions were held by the Directorate General for International Affairs, covering the most important topics students need to know when starting their university journey.
The event was opened by Dr. Marcel Pop, General Director for International Affairs, who warmly welcomed the new students to Obuda University and encouraged them to make the most of the academic and community opportunities available during their time at the University.
The programme included practical information on immigration and residence matters, helping students understand the key administrative requirements related to their stay in Hungary. Students also receivd guidance on health insurance and healthcare, as well as important academic matters and university procedures. Another key part of the programme was an introduction to the University's important points of contact. International students learned which offices and colleagues they can turn to for assistance with academic, administrative and international affairs.
The sessions also offered an insight into student life at Obuda University and in Budapest. Students were introduced to opportunities to get involved in university activities, connect with fellow students and make the most of their experience in the Hungarian capital. A representative of the University's student residence halls also joined the programme and provided useful information about accommodation and everyday life in the dormitories.
Following the presentations, students had the opportunity to participate in individual consultations with members of the international team. This gave them the chance to ask questions about their personal circumstances and receive direct guidance from university staff.
The Orientation Day is an important first step in welcoming new members of Obuda University's international community.
