On 21 May 2025, Obuda University welcomed a high-level delegation from Chongqing University (CQU), led by Prof. Lichun Shu, Party Secretary of Chongqing University. The visit served to reaffirm and expand the long-standing academic relationship between the two institutions.
Opening the meeting, Prof. Dr. Péter Galambos, Vice Rector for Innovation at Obuda University, emphasized the importance of building on the existing foundation and broadening cooperation into new areas of research and education.
The Chinese delegation included senior representatives such as Prof. Bo Yang, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange; Prof. Xin Dai, Deputy Dean of the College of Automation; and Prof. Caizhin Zhang, Director of International Affairs in the College of Mechanical and Vehicle Engineering. Their presentations highlighted Chongqing University's strengths in robotics, engineering, and international partnerships.
Academic staff from Obuda University also contributed to the exchange. Dr. Judit Lukács, Senior Lecturer at the Bánki Donát Faculty of Mechanical and Safety Engineering, and Prof. Dr. Róbert Szabolcsi, Professor at the Institute of Electronic and Communication Systems, Kandó Kálmán Faculty of Electrical Engineering, shared insights into their faculties’ research and educational activities.
During the meeting, both universities explored opportunities to broaden the scope of collaboration beyond the existing focus on robotics. Particular attention was given to emerging fields such as hydrogen energy and humanoid robotics, where joint research could be mutually beneficial. They also showed enthusiasm for Obuda University’s Pannonia Program and Summer School, and discussed the potential for two-way mobility of doctoral students within the framework of international cooperation.
Looking ahead, the two universities proposed several concrete initiatives, including the organisation of a joint student competition, an in-person delegation visit to Chongqing in autumn 2025, and the continuation of focused, technical discussions through regular online meetings.
This visit reaffirmed the mutual commitment to a strategic, long-term partnership rooted in academic excellence, innovation, and shared global goals.
