Hungarian Scientists' Achievements Highlighted in New Jersey
The Visionaries of the Future: Celebrating Mathematics, Science, and the Art of Strategic Play conference, held at New Jersey's Liberty Science Center on October 11, focused on showcasing the advancements in scientific fields shaping modern technology, including game theory, mathematics, and artificial intelligence. Special emphasis was placed on the global achievements of the Hungarian scientific community and researchers, whose contributions have significantly propelled technological innovations of our time. Obuda University was represented by Dr. Gábor Kertész, Vice-Dean for Research at the John von Neumann Faculty of Informatics.
Dr. Gábor Kertész shared his insights on the current and future state of artificial intelligence and on transformative scientific research during the panel Mathematics, AI, and Quantum Science: Navigating Future Challenges. Other panel participants included Roland Jakab, CEO of HUN-REN; Prof. Dr. Ferenc Friedler, Rector of Széchenyi University; and Róbert Németh, a Fulbright PhD candidate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with Prof. Szabolcs Márka from Columbia University in New York moderating the discussion.
The day concluded with Judit Polgár, one of the world’s foremost chess players, discussing the potential of strategic thinking and chess education. She also participated in a friendly simultaneous chess match with young chess players.
The conference was a great success, reinforcing connections within the Hungarian scientific community, particularly in artificial intelligence and mathematics. It marked an important step in promoting new AI-related developments, strategies, and technologies, especially in their application to education and research.
