Shaping the Future at the Future Festival – Obuda University Makes a Strong Debut at Brain Bar!
Huge interest, an energetic atmosphere, inspiring young people and packed presentations characterised Obuda University’s presence at Brain Bar, one of Europe’s largest festivals dedicated to the future. Our university was one of the event’s most popular exhibitors, welcoming visitors with interactive demonstrations at our stand, as well as thought-provoking presentations across two stages.
Throughout the two-day festival, the Obuda University stand was buzzing with activity. Secondary school and university students had the opportunity to explore the wide range of study options available at the university, while visitors gained insight into how the institution is preparing the engineers and innovators of the future.
The true crowd favourites at the Obuda University stand were the humanoid robot and robotic dog, which attracted a constant stream of young visitors eager to record videos and ask questions. Large numbers of visitors also took our AI-Ready Quiz, which offered everyone the opportunity to assess how prepared they are for the challenges of a world transformed by artificial intelligence. The Van de Graaff generator was another major attraction, giving visitors the opportunity to experience a literally electrifying encounter with science. Another favourite among young visitors was our bear mascot, who appeared in countless selfies throughout the festival.
The university was represented on two stages during the event. Prof. Dr Levente Kovács, Rector of Obuda University, took part in a panel discussion on the Richter Stage together with Zsuzsanna Naderi, State Secretary responsible for vocational education and adult learning, and Ádám Horváth, a digital education expert. The discussion was moderated by Dr Linda Szijjártó, an organisational psychologist. During the panel, the Rector highlighted that in the age of AI, young people need knowledge and skills that enable them not only to observe but also to actively shape their own careers and the technological society of the future.
Immediately afterwards, on the Library by Libri Stage, Prof. Dr György Eigner, Dean of the John von Neumann Faculty of Informatics (NIK), explored the human side of the professionals shaping cutting-edge technologies, their everyday challenges, and the importance of mental well-being and responsible decision-making in the course of technological development.
Both professional programmes filled the auditoriums to capacity. In keeping with the spirit of the festival, attendees were not only able to listen to the experts, but also to ask questions, engage in discussions and share their own perspectives.
The two-day festival provided an excellent opportunity for dialogue with the people shaping the future. The experience of the event further confirmed that combining technology, knowledge and the human factor at Obuda University provides young people with a genuine key to building successful careers.
