International Scientific Excellence and Emerging Technologies at Obuda University
Following the opening ceremony of the academic year, the professional day and Mini Symposium entitled Recent Advances in Intelligent Engineering was held at our university on 8 September. The event was organised through a collaboration between Obuda University, the IEEE Hungary Section, the IEEE Hungary Chapter of the Computational Intelligence Society, the IEEE Hungary Chapter of the SMC Society, the IEEE Hungary Joint Chapter of IES and RAS, and the Hungarian Fuzzy Association.



The scientific programme opened with a presentation by Philip Chen, who explored real-time computing in dynamic, open environments and the Broad Learning Approach. Nikola Kasabov examined brain-inspired computing methods, generative, predictive and agentic artificial intelligence, as well as the opportunities offered by AGI. Dusanka Boskovic presented research on the development of human-centred systems based on biomedical signals, while Peter Kazanzides discussed research and clinical applications of medical robotic systems.






In the second part of the programme, Andrea de Gaetano presented the relationship between continuous-time Markov chains and differential equation models, while Seyedali Mirjalili examined the automation of optimisation and the role of large language models. In the afternoon session, Yo-Ping Huang discussed industrial and agricultural applications of AIoT and large language models, while Amir H. Gandomi presented research on automated, explainable and resilient artificial intelligence, as well as its applications for social good. László Szilágyi presented new opportunities in adaptive fuzzy clustering models, while Ali Safaa Sadiq highlighted the growing importance of quantum risks affecting critical national infrastructures.
A key objective of the event organisers was to ensure that students of Obuda University could also participate in the programme. The Mini Symposium offered them direct insight into the latest developments in artificial intelligence, robotics, AIoT, large language models, fuzzy systems, biomedical technologies and quantum technology. In this way, the event created an important link between international scientific excellence, higher education and the technologies of the future, while providing students with a first-hand opportunity to explore the research directions that are expected to shape engineering and technological development in the coming years.
