Obuda University Welcomes Hungarian Students from Beyond the Borders to the Kandó Summer University
This year, Obuda University hosted the 36th Kandó Kálmán Summer University for Hungarian engineering students from communities beyond Hungary’s borders. The programme aims to strengthen students’ Hungarian identity while supporting the development of their professional Hungarian vocabulary and contributing to their academic and professional development. Another key objective is to provide participants with an insight into the current state of the Hungarian industry.
The central theme of this year’s programme was “Sustainable Engineering Solutions.” The Summer University was jointly organized by Obuda University’s Kandó Kálmán Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Alba Regia Faculty, with this year’s programme taking place in Zamárdi.
Nearly 30 students arrived from Upper Hungary (Felvidék), Transylvania, Partium and Vojvodina (Délvidék) and spent just over a week in Hungary. A diverse range of professional and cultural programmes was organized for them, covering topics from the work of the Balaton Limnological Research Institute and the role of supercomputers to the development of 5G and 6G mobile networks, the challenges of developing electric buses and the latest developments in robotics.
In addition to the professional presentations, the students also had the opportunity to visit the Retro Rádió studio and the Huniverzum exhibition in Budapest.
On 3 September, the participants spent the day in Székesfehérvár, where they learned about the city’s history and landmarks with the help of Attila Mészáros, Deputy Mayor of Székesfehérvár. They also visited Videoton Holding Zrt., before concluding the day at Obuda University’s Alba Regia Faculty.
At the University’s campus, Dr. habil. Éva Hajnal Nagy, Associate Professor, and Bálint Farkas, Assistant Lecturer, introduced the students to the world of industrial robotics.
