Obuda University Begins the Academic Year with a Record Number of Students

Obuda University is set to begin the 2026/2027 academic year with a record 4,549 new students, the highest number in the institution’s history. “The record number of admitted students is a clear indication that the programmes offered by Obuda University and the values represented by the institution are attractive to prospective students,” said Prof. Dr. Levente Kovacs, Rector of Obuda University.

The new academic year begins with one of the highest numbers of newly admitted students in the history of Obuda University. A total of 4,549 first-year students will commence their studies at the institution. In recent years, the University has consistently expanded and developed its educational and professional portfolio while maintaining its commitment to high-quality education, highlighted Rector Prof. Dr. Levente Kovacs. He added: “This demonstrates that there is growing demand among applicants for higher education that provides up-to-date, market-relevant knowledge while also maintaining high professional standards.”

The growing popularity of Obuda University is also clearly reflected in the results of the 2026 supplementary admission procedure. This year, twice as many applicants applied to the University’s programmes as in the previous year, further reinforcing the trend that Obuda University is becoming the first choice for an increasing number of young people pursuing higher education.

A total of 594 students were admitted to the University’s programmes through the supplementary admission procedure, representing a 20 percent increase compared with the previous year.

During the supplementary admission procedure, Obuda University also announced several new degree programmes. These new programmes attracted significant interest, while the high number of applicants further demonstrates the strong demand among students for modern educational programmes that prepare them for the technological and economic challenges of the future. Starting in September, the University will launch, among others, the Bachelor’s programme in Aviation Infrastructure Engineering and the Master’s programme in Economics and Business Education.

The outstanding number of students starting the new academic year represents more than an exceptional statistical achievement; it is also an important indication of the confidence placed in Obuda University. Building on this trust, the University will continue to strive in the coming academic year to provide students with up-to-date knowledge, market-relevant competencies and a professional environment that lays the foundation for a successful career start.
