Futures That Flourish: Hungary Builds, Obuda University Bridges at Tangaza
In a landmark celebration of faith, partnership, and educational advancement, Tangaza University in Nairobi officially inaugurated the St. Elizabeth of Hungary Hall on 18 June 2025. Constructed with the generous support of the Hungary Helps Programme, in cooperation with the Hungarian Embassy in Kenya, the new facility stands as a symbol of Hungary’s enduring commitment to strengthening Christian institutions and promoting access to quality education worldwide.
Obuda University had the distinct honor of being the only Hungarian - and the only European - university represented at this historic occasion. Obuda University was represented by Györgyi de Nemesker, who officially initiated preparations for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tangaza University, laying the groundwork for a future-focused academic partnership. Obuda University’s strategic partner in Kenya, ACPM IT Consulting ZRT., was also present at the event, represented by CEO Márton Miklós and OU ’s Nairobi Office Manager Brian Goga – highlighting the growing presence and cooperation between Hungarian and Kenyan institutions.
The envisioned collaboration will focus on student and staff mobility, joint curriculum development, and dual degree programs, supported by Hungary’s newly launched Pannonia Programme, a strategic initiative aimed at fostering global academic exchange and capacity building. Through this forthcoming agreement, Obuda University is set to become Tangaza University’s first European academic partner, creating opportunities for meaningful engagement in priority disciplines and strengthening a shared commitment to knowledge, innovation, and intercultural dialogue.
Named in honor of St. Elizabeth of Hungary, the new hall is more than just a physical structure—it is a symbol of compassion, connection, and common purpose. Within its newly built walls, a new chapter of international academic cooperation begins.
This initiative reflects Obuda University’s mission to cultivate global partnerships that empower individuals, enhance institutional resilience, and contribute to a more inclusive and interconnected future.
