Our PhD Student Selected as the Sole Hungarian Participant in the Space Studies Program!

Sándor Burian, PhD student and researcher at the OE Space Lab, is representing both our university and Hungary as the sole Hungarian participant in the prestigious Space Studies Program (SSP25), organized by the International Space University (ISU), taking place in South Korea.

The 37th edition of the nearly two-month-long program (30 June – 25 August 2025) is hosted in Seoul by the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies (KOFST) and Hanyang University. As space research is gaining increasing prominence in the scientific world, it is a great honor and recognition for our university that he is the only Hungarian participant in this esteemed international program.

During the training, our young researcher from Space Lab will attend world-class lectures and workshops. The event is supported by prominent institutions such as the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI), the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), the National Research Council of Science and Technology (NST), the Korean Society for Aeronautical and Space Sciences (KSAS), the Korean Society for Aeronautical System Engineering (KOSASE), and the Korean Space Science Society (KSSS).

In recent years, South Korea has made remarkable advancements in its space capabilities. Recent developments such as the Nuri launch vehicle, the Danuri lunar mission, and the establishment of the Korea AeroSpace Administration (KASA) clearly demonstrate the country’s successful ambitions in space exploration.
