Obuda University Initiates Double Degree Talks with GUET
On 27 May 2025, Obuda University hosted a delegation from Guilin University of Electronic Technology (GUET), China, to explore the launch of a double degree programme in mechanical and electrical engineering. Discussions will begin with GUET’s Faculty of Electrical Engineering, a nationally recognised centre of excellence and a key hub in southern China.
GUET, founded in 1960 and jointly supported by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is a leading teaching and research university with strong expertise in electronic information. The institution enrolls approximately 43,000 full-time students across its four campuses, offering 74 undergraduate, 21 postgraduate, and 9 doctoral programmes.
In addition to academic collaboration, the meeting highlighted shared priorities in fostering strong industry partnerships, including with the defence sector. GUET has already received government approval to launch double degree programmes and is engaging with international partners from France, the USA, and Hungary.
Further cooperation may include joint conferences, academic publications, and co-supervised PhD programmes—marking a promising step toward long-term collaboration between the two institutions.
