Strategic Cooperation Agreement Signed Between Obuda University and the University of Informatics Sciences of Havana
Obuda University hosted the 3rd Hungarian–Cuban Rectors’ Forum, which was attended by Mr. Walter Baruja García, Cuban Minister of Higher Education; Mr. László Palkovics, Hungarian Government Commissioner for Artificial Intelligence; as well as several university leaders from Hungary and Cuba. The objective of the forum’s organizers was to strengthen scientific and educational cooperation between the two countries.

Welcoming remarks were delivered by Mr. Walter Baruja García, Minister of Higher Education of Cuba; Mr. Gábor Csaba, Deputy State Secretary at the Ministry of Culture and Innovation; Prof. Dr. László Borhy, Rector of Eötvös Loránd University and President of the Hungarian Rectors’ Conference; Dr. Ferenc Hudecz, Vice President for Natural Sciences at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences; and Prof. Dr. Levente Kovács, Rector of Obuda University.

Obuda University offers a wide range of engineering programmes at BSc, MSc, and PhD levels. UCI plays a key role in Cuba’s digital transformation by training IT professionals and developing computing technologies. From now on, the two universities will work together in the research and education of future technologies. The cooperation will cover: joint research projects and funding applications; joint MSc and PhD programmes; faculty, postgraduate, and postdoctoral exchange schemes; development of digital and distance learning materials; participation in international seminars and workshops; as well as the facilitation and joint publication of scientific articles.

During the forum, participants heard presentations by Mr. Raydel Montesinos Perurena, Rector of UCI; Prof. Dr. Levente Kovács; Mr. Edelvy Bravo Amarante, Rector of José Martí Pérez University of Sancti Spíritus; Mr. Jesús Reyes Nunez, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Informatics at Eötvös Loránd University; and Mr. László Palkovics. The event was concluded by Dr. Zoltán Dubéczi, Secretary-General of the Hungarian Rectors’ Conference, followed by professional discussions.
