Obuda University Welcomes Delegation from Shanghai University of Electric Power
Obuda University was honored to welcome a distinguished delegation from the Shanghai University of Electric Power (SUEP), a leading Chinese institution renowned for its expertise in energy and power engineering. As the only undergraduate university in southern China focused exclusively on power engineering, SUEP has been at the forefront of this field since its establishment in 1951.
With a strong academic community of over 800 faculty members and more than 14,000 students, SUEP offers 40 undergraduate programs spanning a wide range of disciplines. During the visit, representatives from both universities engaged in fruitful discussions, identifying opportunities for future collaboration in education and research.
Among the initiatives discussed, SUEP introduced a three-week summer school program starting in July, open to teachers and students (BSc, MSc, and PhD). While participants are responsible for their travel costs, SUEP will cover accommodation and meals. Additionally, SUEP invited Obuda University to join a scholarship program they are taking part of, funded by the China Scholarship Council. Launched in 2023, the program involves international partners from the UK, Japan, Singapore, and New Zealand, and offers various mobility opportunities including PhD studies, postdoctoral fellowships, teaching exchanges, and senior researcher placements lasting from six months to four years.
The meeting highlighted a shared commitment to advancing innovation and academic excellence in the energy sector. Obuda University looks forward to building a strong partnership with SUEP to promote joint research initiatives, faculty and student exchanges, and other collaborative activities.
