A New Milestone in Uzbek Collaboration

Internationalization remains a strategic priority for Obuda University, with Central Asia identified as a key focus region. In early April, Prof. Dr. András Molnar, Vice-Rector for Informatics and Quality Assurance, and Antal Németh, CEO of the Kaposvár Scientific and Innovation Park Nonprofit Ltd., traveled to Uzbekistan to engage in consultation meetings. The primary agenda was to discuss the current phase and implementation details of the Innovative Educational and Production Technopark, a joint investment with Obuda University. Discussions also included the establishment of educational and research mobility programs.

As Rector Prof. Dr. Levente Kovács previously emphasized, “One of the greatest achievements of our professional work is that Uzbekistan’s first science and innovation techno park will be realized with the involvement of Obuda University.”

The Jizzakh-based Technopark project will incorporate Obuda University’s research expertise in areas such as IT, cybersecurity, programming, industrial robotics, smart construction, medical technology, precision agriculture, technology transfer, and innovation management.

During their visit, Prof. Dr. András Molnár and Németh Antal held meetings at the Uzbek Ministry of Agriculture and Higher Education with Deputy Minister Alisher Shukurov, Presidential Advisor Deputy Ulugbek Husainov, and Botir Usmonov Shukurillayevich, Rector of the Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology. Their discussions focused on the development status of the Inno Techno Park, as well as the establishment of a collaboration to support the creation of an automotive and agricultural engineering school at the Jizzakh Polytechnic Institute, based on Obuda University’s expertise. An agreement was also reached on student exchange programs related to agricultural education.

Obuda University’s delegation also participated in the international conference titled “Challenges and Prospects of Higher Vocational Education and the Development of Science in a Globalized World”, held in celebration of the 90th anniversary of TIIAME National Research University. Further discussions took place with Minister Sharipov Kongratbay at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, and Rector Usmonov at the Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology. The minister confirmed that the ministry would be the professional authority responsible for the project on the Uzbek side, with coordination led by Rector Botir Usmonov.

The parties discussed plans for an annual intake of 50 students, PhD candidates, and professionals from Uzbekistan to Obuda University for various training programs. Future cooperation is also envisioned in joint research, publications, and practical exchanges.

Prof. Dr. András Molnár and Antal Németh visited the city of Jizzakh, where they were joined by Ulugbek Mustafoev, Governor of the Jizzakh Region, Deputy Governor Akmal Savurbayev, and Rector Usmonov to review the ongoing construction of the Inno Techno Park. The local leaders reaffirmed their support for the project’s successful implementation.

The visit concluded with meetings with representatives from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Presidential Cabinet. Discussions centered on reaffirming the shared commitment to the realization of the Inno Techno Park, summarizing recent progress, and outlining the next steps. Representatives of Obuda University emphasized the need to establish a joint venture company to enable further progress and secure the necessary funding.
