Prof. Dr. Florin Dragan
Florin Drăgan is associate professor at Politehnica University from Timișoara, Faculty of Automation and Computer Science. He received his bachelor’s degree in Automation from University Politehnica Timişoara in 1995 and master degree in 1996 in Process Control at the same faculty. The Ph.D. degree was granted in 2007 by Politehnica University from Timișoara in the field of Chaos Control in Electrical Converters.
Florin Drăgan joint Politehnica University Timișoara in 1997 as Teaching Assistant. In 2002 became lecturer and in 2008 associate professor in the Department of Automation and Applied Informatics.
For over 20 years, he has been teaching Operating Systems, Digital Logic, Chaotic Systems Control, PLC programming in Automation an Applied Informatics Department. He has published more than 75 papers in international journals and conferences and 3 books. He’s research interest includes areas of Robotics, Chaotic Systems Theory, PLC’s Applications.
Drăgan managed 6 grants for research or development and participated in over 20. He managed or participated every year in grants for institutional developing funding by national rules.
From 2016 he was nominated vicerector of Politehnica University from Timișoara responsible with educational process and students. Until 2020 he managed this area of the Politehnica University.
In 2020 he was elected Rector of Politehnica University from Timișoara. He is also member of National Council for Higher Education (CNFIS) from 2019.
From 2000 until he became vicerector, Florin Drăgan has important cooperation with software companies from Timișoara, founded or managed projects for companies from UK, USA, Germany, Netherlands or Belgium.
