For Exchange Students
How to apply
Students nominated by their home universities will receive an email from the International Application system confirming their nomination and providing instructions on how to register. The email includes a personal link to the Incoming Exchange Application. It is essential to start the application using this link only, as any other link will not be accepted.
Application process
The application procedure ends once the applicant receives the official Acceptance Letter. A notification will be sent to the applicant’s email, and the Acceptance letter can also be downloaded directly from the system.
The steps are as follows:
- Complete the online application form with all required information.
- Uploading the following documents in English:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV),
- Personal identification or valid passport (mandatory if a visa is required),
- Proof of acceptable health insurance valid in Hungary,
- Completed and signed Learning Agreement (signed by both the student and the responsible person at the home university)
- Transcript of records
- Verification of personal data and submitted documents by the International Mobility Office.
- Faculty approval: the Learning agreement is signed by the assigned faculty’s international coordinator.
- Issuance of the Acceptance Letter through the online application system
Please note: Applications will not be accepted without all required documents submitted to the International Mobility Office and faculty coordinators.
Courses for exchange students
Courses shall be selected form the list provided on the webpage from the list of the semester of the mobility. Courses selected form any other semester will not be accepted.
Practical information
Pre-arrival
- Arriving to Obuda University: Each semester begins with Orientation Days for exchange students, including general presentations about the semester, introductions, faculty visits and enrolment. Attendance is highly recommended. Students who cannot attend must complete enrolment within the first month of the semester.
- Insurance: All students must have valid health insurance accepted in Hungary for the full exchange period (e.g., European Health Insurance card for EU/EEA students, travel insurance).
- Visa: Students requiring a visa must begin the visa process themselves at the Hungarian Consulate responsible for their country of residence. Certain supporting documents required for the visa application will be issued by Obuda University. More information is available on the website of National Directorate-General for Aliens Policing.

Dormitory places are limited and only available to students who apply through the official system before the deadline.

During the semester
- Residence Permit and EEA’s Registration Certificate: Upon arrival, students must meet Hungarian legal requirements for residence.
- EEA students: submit the Registration Certificate.
- Students with a visa: residence permit applications are processed before entry; permits are later delivered to the university by mail. Students are informed automatically upon arrival of the permit.
- Temporary Student ID: Exchange students receive a temporary ID certificate instead of a plastic card. Valid for 60 days and renewable. Student Office issues a temporary ID certificate which can be used for similar purposes.
- Course Changes: Each exchange student can decide to make appropriate changes in their Learning Agreement. Changes to the Learning Agreement must be made within the first two weeks of classes and approved by both the home and host institution. Changes must also be updated in the online system.
- Extension: Students nominated for one semester may request an extension, subject to approval by both the home institution and the International Mobility Office.
Finishing at Obuda University
- Closing documents: After completing exams, students may request closing documents from the International Mobility Office. Requirements vary by home university.
- Transcript of Records: Equivalent to the After the Mobility Issued directly from the Neptun system by the Student Office and requested through request form 0056.
- Certificates and Confirmations: Certificates of stay or attendance can be requested in person from the International Mobility Office. These must match the official enrolment period.
- Student Survey: Outgoing students are invited to complete a survey to provide feedback and improve services.
