Course Description:

To offer a basic knowledge concerning the entitled topics, emphasizing their connections and influence on our daily life.

1. Environmental protection Part 1. – Definitions. The importance of photosynthesis and biodiversity

2. Environmental Protection Part 2. – Soil and water resources.
3. Environmental protection Part 3. – Types of wastewater treatment. The main functions of the atmosphere
4. Environmental protection Part 4. - Ozone layer in stratosphere, Ozone Hole, Carbon Footprint. Light pollution (skyglow). Noise and How to reduce it?
5-6. Environmental protection Part 5. – Waste and waste management. Renewable energy sources. New energy policy in EU. Types of power plants. ISO 14001:2015 - Environmental Management International Standard. Eco label. Life-cycle assessment.

Assessment: Requirements of the signature: The course will be completed as a distance learning course. According to this situation, the students are asked to learn the topics published in the Moodle system. To prove their weekly study, to perform the weekly (automated) tests are required. The Test1 and Test2 will be organized applying the Moodle system, as well. To complete the course, the two Tests should be fulfilled at least with mark 2.
