Obuda University Signs Cooperation Agreement with South Korea’s Dongseo University

During the Magna Charta Universitatum’s 2026 Anniversary in Vilnius, Obuda University signed a cooperation agreement with Dongseo University in Busan, South Korea. Rector Prof. Dr. Levente Kovács and Dongseo University President Dr. Chang Je-kuk signed the agreement, which aims to open new opportunities for student and researcher mobility and knowledge sharing.

The Magna Charta Universitatum’s annual Anniversary event brings together university leaders from around the world who are committed to the fundamental values of higher education, including academic freedom, institutional autonomy and social responsibility. This year’s event, hosted by Mykolas Romeris University in Vilnius, was especially significant for Obuda University, as it was where the university formally joined the Magna Charta Universitatum. The gathering also offered an excellent opportunity to strengthen the university’s international ties and build new, long-term partnerships.

“I intend to make the most of every moment of the event to meet partners with whom we can open up new opportunities for our students and researchers,” said Rector Levente Kovács.

In this spirit, the Rector signed a cooperation agreement with Dongseo University. Thanks to its dynamic growth in recent years, its strong network of international partnerships and its innovative educational programmes, the Busan-based university has become a remarkable higher education institution. It has significant expertise in digital technologies, design, film and media arts, and computer science.

“I am convinced that partnerships like this create real value,” the Rector said. “They offer new opportunities for student and researcher mobility, promote knowledge sharing and help our university further strengthen its international presence. The future of higher education is built on openness, mutual learning and cross-border collaboration.”

He added that at the Magna Charta event, his priority was not only to nurture existing relationships but also to build new partnerships that will bring tangible, long-term results for the Obuda University community.
