Obuda University Joins the 4GU Community
Universities around the world embracing the fourth-generation university model established the 4th Generation Universities (4GU) Community last year. This year, the community held its first meeting in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, with Obuda University representing Hungary as the country’s sole participating higher education institution.
More than 100 participants from 23 countries attended this year’s event. Obuda University’s participation further confirms its position as an active contributor to international dialogue on the future of higher education.
“The 4GU approach is particularly important to me because it addresses the question of how universities can go beyond knowledge transfer and actively contribute to economic, social and regional development. This approach is built on mission-driven collaboration, joint knowledge creation, open innovation, an entrepreneurial mindset, and the development of a quadruple helix ecosystem connecting universities, industry, government and society,” said Prof. Dr Levente Kovács, Rector of Obuda University.
This approach is closely aligned with the mission of Obuda University: to develop a regional innovation ecosystem in which the university’s expertise and research outcomes create tangible value for both the economy and society.
“That is why joining the 4GU Community and becoming part of this international professional network represents an important step for us. Our goal is to share our own experience, learn from the practices of other universities, and work together to explore how universities can create even greater social and economic value in the 21st century,” he added.
