University Innovation Ecosystem

We have built an internationally unique innovation ecosystem at our university, to transform ideas into business success. We integrate practical innovation, initiative, and entrepreneurship education, while supporting a connected community of young talents, researchers, and innovators.

To promote entrepreneurial mindset and foster early-stage ventures, our students benefit from programs such as the Proof of Concept Innovation Project course, HSUP, and Demola. Beyond these, our Most Innovative Thesis and Proof of Concept competitions further elevate projects—offering funding and mentorship. Building on this, the PiKo investment program provides up to HUF 20 million to support nascent startups. This pre-seed funding is a unique opportunity to assist entrepreneurial ventures from their initial steps, ensuring smooth progression to the next stages.

Comprehensive internal support is available: the University Research and Innovation Centre offers scientific and technological infrastructure along with its mentor‑researcher team, while our Innovation Office guides academics in turning ideas into market results. We have also founded Initium Venture Labs Ltd., a tech‑transfer company linked to Obuda University. Our risk‑capital firm, Obuda Uni Venture Capital Ltd., supports high-potential startups through mentoring, investment, and strong international incubation.

The Science and Innovation Parks further enhance (along another dimension) university–industry collaboration: they provide sector-specific space, infrastructure, and R+D+I services to partner companies.
