Prof. Dr. László Madarász

Professor László Madarász was born in Kuntapolca, in the Roznava district of Hungary. He attended the Pelsőc Hungarian Primary School and obtained his secondary education at the once-renowned Kassai Hungarian Technical School. He graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Kassai Technical University in 1973, specializing in technical cybernetics. He began his pedagogical and scientific career at the Department of Cybernetics and Artificial Intelligence. He defended his candidate thesis at the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava in 1983 and became an associate professor in 1984.

He held various university positions, including Deputy Head of Department, Deputy Dean, and Rector’s Advisor. His extensive scientific work includes 13 monographs, 20 university textbooks, over 250 original publications, as well as numerous scientific and professional articles, opinions, and reviews. His research contributions are significant in the practical applications of artificial intelligence, particularly in design, control, and modeling.

Professor Madarász has served on various professional and advisory committees, such as the Scientific Council of the Kassai Technical University and is currently a member of the Scientific Council at Selye János University. He is also a board member of the Technical Section of the World Federation of Hungarian Professors.

He has gained substantial experience in international relations, having been a guest lecturer at the nearby University of Miskolc on several occasions. The scope of international scientific conferences and meetings he has been involved in is difficult to quantify. He particularly valued deepening cooperation between the Kassai Technical University and Hungarian universities, including the University of Miskolc, Budapest University of Technology and Economics, and Obuda University and its predecessor institutions. These connections encompass scientific collaboration, student exchanges, and joint participation in international projects.

Professor László Madarász has been recognized with various awards and honors. He received the Gold Medal of the Kassai Technical University, the Gábor Dénes Award in 2013 from the Hungarian Parliament, and the Officer’s Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit in 2014.
