Strengthening relations in Sri Lanka

Ronan Group International organized the first Hungarian Higher Education Event in Colombo between May 22-25, 2023, where Obuda University was also represented.

Sri Lanka, with its population of 22 million, cultural and religious diversity, widespread use of English and young population, is one of the priority countries on the University's internationalisation map.

Visitors to the educational event held at the Hungarian Consulate showed great interest in the university's BSc and MSc engineering programs, with the most inquiries received in computer science, mechatronics, and business informatics. Several interested individuals initiated their applications on the spot for their chosen programs.

After the event, Györgyi de Kiss de Nemesker le Charron and Tamás Kersánszki visited a well-established English-language private high school in Galle, where they delivered a lecture on STEM and technical education and had a career-oriented discussion with the students.

During the stay, discussions were held in higher education with the Chief Operating Officer of SLTC Research University regarding joint training opportunities and Erasmus cooperation.
Like the University's development programmes in Kenya, they plan to launch short-cycle IT security training courses in Colombo in collaboration with ACPM IT Consulting. As part of the preparations, meetings were held with Janindu De Silva, the Vice President of Information Security at National Trust Bank, and Faras Samat, the Cybersecurity manager at Dialog Mobile Operator.
In October, we plan an enrollment roadshow for graduating students from selected high schools, further enhancing mobility opportunities between the two countries.
