Obuda University Achieves Outstanding Results in Three Subjects in ShanghaiRanking 2026
Obuda University has achieved outstanding international results in three subjects of ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2026. It placed in the 201–300 band in both Electrical & Electronic Engineering and Artificial Intelligence, and in the 401–500 band in Computer Science & Engineering. In all three subjects, Obuda University is the only Hungarian higher education institution in the ranking.
ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) assesses around 2,000 universities worldwide in 57 subjects. Its indicators include research impact, high-quality publications, international collaboration and the achievements of academic staff. The results therefore provide important international feedback on Obuda University’s scientific and innovation activities.
The ranking’s methodology tends to favour large universities with a broad range of disciplines and a long research history. Institutions that perform well typically build on decades of scientific tradition, large research communities and a high volume of publications. Obuda University, by contrast, is a younger institution with a focused engineering and technology profile, a smaller research community and a specialised research portfolio. This makes its place among the world’s leading universities particularly noteworthy.
The results reflect the consistent work carried out across the university, including the activities of its research institutes and the University Research and Innovation Center (EKIK). In the coming years, Obuda University aims to further strengthen its scientific performance, expand its international research collaborations and appear in more of the leading international university rankings.
