Symposium on China-Hungary Scientific and Technological Cooperation
Obuda University proudly hosted a high importance meeting on April 7, marking a significant step in advancing China-Hungary scientific and technological cooperation. Following the visit of senior management of Obuda University delegation to Wuxi a month earlier, a high-level delegation arrived at our university from the municipality of Wuxi city. The event, centered on the themes of innovation, research collaboration, and industrial development, brought together key figures from both Hungary and China.
This gathering underscored the ongoing success of initiatives like the China-Hungary Torch Innovation Center and highlighted the importance of academia-industry partnerships in fostering global technological advancements.
The guests were greeted by governmental commissioner Dr. László György and Vice Rector of Obuda University Viktória Sugár. The Vice Rector highlighted that Obuda University is committed to innovation through the Rector's strategy, in close contact with industry, business and international partners. Csaba Árvai, Advisor to the Obuda University Venture Investment Fund, elaborated on the university’s research initiatives, industrial policies, and successful international collaborations. The meeting was attended by the CEOs of the university’s science parks, as well as senior management from Magnus Aircraft.
Mr. Cui Rongguo, Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Wuxi High-Tech Zone outlined the future plans for the center, emphasizing Wuxi’s commitment to innovation and international cooperation. Mr. Zhao Qiang, Mayor of Huishan District, provided valuable insights into Huishan's industrial upgrades and strategies for international collaboration, underscoring the importance of local government efforts in nurturing an environment conducive to foreign investment and technological growth. Further strengthening the China-Hungary business ties, Mr. Sun Bin, Chairman of Wuxi GrandTag Co., Ltd., shared his company's plans to establish a research and development center in Hungary. At the end of the presentations, Du Xiaogang Wuxi City Party Secretary summarised the meeting. He stressed the importance of close cooperation with Obuda University for a developed city like Wuxi. There are several areas where cooperation can be developed, with mutually beneficial opportunities for the future.

The Chinese delegation's visit, which lasted several days, concluded on April 8 with the signing of a Letter of Intent between Haichuang Venture Capital and Obuda University at the High-Level Hungarian-Chinese Business Forum with the aim to promote the aggregation of technological resources, facilitate the transfer and implementation of advanced science and technology from Obuda University in China, and cooperate in industrial development, technological research.
