Obuda University Explores New Partnerships with Uzbekistan’s Tashkent University of Information Technologies
On September 12, a delegation from the Fergana Center of the Tashkent University of Information Technologies (TUIT) visited Obuda University. The Uzbek delegation, led by Director Farrukh Mukhtarov, was welcomed by Rector Prof. Dr. Levente Kovács. Joining the discussions were Prof. Dr. András Molnár, Vice Rector for Information Technology and Quality Assurance, Dr. habil. Ervin Rácz, Head of the Education Strategy Department, and Prof. Dr. Kornélia Lazányi, Head of the Mobility Office.
“Central Asia, and especially Uzbekistan, is one of Obuda University’s most important international partners,” highlighted Rector Prof. Dr. Levente Kovács, adding that the collaboration offers mutual benefits for both parties. During the discussions, the possibility of implementing “Double Degree” dissertation defenses for researchers was raised, allowing students to complete their studies at a foreign partner institution alongside their home university, thus earning two degrees simultaneously. The talks also touched upon organizing scientific internship programs for faculty members, with plans for academic exchange programs for both students and lecturers. The partners also discussed creating a joint educational program in 2+2 and 1+1 formats, with the exact duration to be determined at a future meeting.
Following the meeting, the Uzbek guests visited the University Research and Innovation Center’s laboratory and concluded their visit with a tour of the Bánki Donát Faculty of Mechanical and Safety Engineering at Obuda University.
