The scientific parks of Óbudai University were presented at the IASP World Congress

The delegation from Óbudai University, including Prof. Dr. Levente Kovács, the rector; Prof. Dr. György Györök, dean of the Alba Regia Technical Faculty; Dr. György Eigner, dean of the John von Neumann Faculty of Informatics; and Prof. Dr. Zoltán Rajnai, dean of the Donát Bánki Faculty of Mechanical and Safety Engineering, participated in the 40th IASP (International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation) World Congress held in Luxembourg. The Óbuda University delegation was received by Ebba Lund, the executive director of the international organization, and Luis Sanz, the head of the IASP Knowledge Sharing Program.

In a session on the challenges facing young science parks, Prof. Dr. Levente Kovács presented the concept of the three science parks of Óbuda University.

"The establishment of three science and innovation parks by Óbuda University, and this opportunity, which is unique in the entire Hungarian higher education, will become the cornerstone of our investor university approach", the Rector emphasised. Our programme is also internationally recognised as we are the first Hungarian university member of the International Science Park Association. And now we want to take our ideas abroad - added Prof. Dr. Levente Kovács, mentioning that the ÓE has agreed with the Uzbek Tashkent University of Chemical Technology to establish an Uzbek-Hungarian Innovation Park in Uzbekistan.

The session was moderated by André Domin, with Charles Mondal (UK) discussing the success factors of young science and technology parks, Luiz Filho (Brazil) analysing the success factors of a young Brazilian technology park, and Benny Ng presenting the Dutch experience.

Óbuda University has launched the development of three science and technology parks. This unique series of developments in Hungarian higher education far exceeds the expectations of any science university. Organised on a market basis, the technology parks will be a strategic sector and a key element of the knowledge-based economy of the future.

The investments of the Mechatronics Technology and Innovation Park
in Székesfehérvár will combine the research and development potential of Óbuda University with the resources of the city's economic actors. They will focus on robotics and mechatronics and aeronautical developments, given the local potential. The project is led by Prof. Dr. Györök György, Dean of the Alba Regia Faculty of Technology.

The Smart Industry Technology and Innovation Park will be built in Kaposvár and will include research and development in the field of special paints, spraying processes, metalworking, bonding technology and recycling of polluting materials, in a smart building equipped with near-zero energy, high level information and communication technology and intelligent control devices. In addition, the development of technologies for the defence industry will be a priority. The project will be led by Prof. Dr. Zoltán Rajnai, Dean of the Bánki Donát Faculty of Mechanical and Safety Engineering.

The Industries of the Future Technology and Innovation Park in Jámbeck is being redeveloped as part of a brownfield development on the site of the former Hungarian barracks. The long-term aim of the project is to develop the region, and the Zsámbéki municipality, which is supporting the investment, can also carry out industrial development and social inclusion, following the scientific activities of Óbuda University. The project is led by Dr György Eigner, Dean of the John von Neumann Faculty of Informatics at the Óbuda University.
