First Virtual International Conference is Co-Organized by Óbuda University

IEEE 14th International Symposium on Applied Computational Intelligence and Informatics (SACI 2020) was planned to be organized on May 21-23, 2020 in Timişoara, Romania, but finally it went to a virtual platform.

Politehnica University of Timişoara had been the host for SACI 2020 international symposium since the first edition, but the COVID-19 pandemic made everything different not only in the everyday life, but in the scientific area also. The organizing parties, Óbuda University, Budapest, Hungary, Politehnica University of Timişora, Romania and IEEE Hungary Secion analyzed the circumstances and facilities, then made the decision not to cancel or postpone the conference, but organize it on a virtual platform which became very common nowadays.

However both organizers and authors stronly believed having the possibility hosting the conference in the beautiful Timisoara in order to offer the frame of face-to-face meetings, lauch cooperations and exchange ideas, it turned out that this year the conference has a different edition, but thanks to the great authors, the hard job of reviewers and the flexibility of the organizers, this event still exists.

Please, check the commitment on the conference website (http://conf.uni-obuda.hu/saci2020/), where Prof. Dr. Levente Kovács, Rector of Óbuda University, and one of the General Chairs of SACI 2020, sends his inspiring words and explains the current aspect, as well as proves that the traditional event with a long-term history is strong enough to live though the period of the dangerous pandemic.

Despite of the particulat conditions, finally 46 papers were accepted after review process, authors are from six countries (Austria, Canada, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary and Romania). Special Session on PhD Student Research in Applied Informatics and Numerical Mathematics was organized successfully by Prof. Dr. László Horváth.

On the basis of the challenge, organizing SACI 2021 has been already started, and authors are welcome to Timişoara again on May 19-21, 2021.
