Obuda University Collaborates with the Wuxi High-Tech Zone in the Establishment of a High-Tech Innovation Center

On November 4, Obuda University signed an agreement with the Wuxi High-Tech Zone in China to cooperate on joint innovation and business development programs. The collaboration is closely linked to the "One Belt, One Road" Initiative, a project involving not only the Hungarian and Chinese governments but also dozens of other countries.

As part of this partnership, the Hungarian-Chinese Torch Innovation Center will be established with the involvement of Obuda University, which will strengthen collaboration between science parks. Additionally, this initiative will serve as a model for science parks being developed as part of university investments, potentially benefiting the countries participating in the "One Belt, One Road" project.

"Our collaboration with the Wuxi High-Tech Zone provides an opportunity for long-term talent exchange and the establishment of a technological transfer mechanism, which will significantly contribute to advancing research and development at Obuda University," emphasized Prof. Dr. Levente Kovács, Rector of the University. He added that one of the key objectives of the partnership is to foster innovation research and industrialization through the development of laboratories and research projects. Furthermore, the creation of a China-Hungary Innovation Center platform is one of the key opportunities to be explored. Prof. Dr. Kovács also highlighted the importance of attracting international students through exchange programs and strengthening the education of local talents through tailored projects.

The agreement, signed by Gu Guodong, Deputy Director of the Wuxi High-Tech Zone, and Prof. Dr. Levente Kovács, was made within the framework of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative, which facilitates technological and talent exchanges between China and Hungary. Under the agreement, the parties will create a long-term technological cooperation mechanism that will enhance industry-university-research collaborations and improve technological outcomes. The university’s research and development environment will significantly facilitate the implementation of these goals.
