Two teams from Obuda University also presented themselves at the Demo Day

As part of the Hungarian Startup University Program (HSUP), the "HSUP Demo Day" pitch competition was recently held in Kápolnásnyék to mark the end of this academic year. Out of the 194 teams participating in the national program, prominent entrepreneurs selected the most marketable and professionally as well as commercially feasible 20 projects. The teams named RTEEMS and ERMEL from Obuda University successfully presented their ideas. Their concepts involve detecting threats to the drinking water supply and developing a sensor to enhance bicycle safety.

Led by Ákos Szilágyi (Rejtő Sándor Faculty of Light Industry and Environmental Protection Engineering at Obuda University), the RTEEMS team is working on developing an environmental monitoring system designed primarily to detect threats to the drinking water supply.

Under the leadership of Meltem Yesilöz (John von Neumann Faculty of Informatics at Obuda University) the ERMEL team is working on a bicycle sensor. This sensor aims to allow cyclists to check for obstacles behind them and determine their location on either side before making turns or changing lanes, without the need to physically turn and look behind.

The Hungarian Startup University Program was initiated in 2020 with the aim of acquainting domestic university students with a modern entrepreneurial mindset and introducing them to the world of innovation and startups. Organized by the National Innovation Agency, the program provides educational materials and tasks through an online platform, where the best teams showcase their projects during Demo Days. Over the past years, more than ten thousand students have participated in the program.
