The MASSVENTIL project has entered a new phase of implementation
The production of the prototype of the mass ventilator system developed at Obuda University can begin in the new production hall of Medicor Electronics Ltd. – announced Prof. Dr. Levente Kovács, the rector of the university, following the official opening. As he emphasized, the project, which has entered the implementation phase, is an exemplary collaboration between higher education and industry. The event on June 18th was attended by Minister of Finance Mihály Varga, who officially inaugurated the production facility established with government support.
The manufacturing facility was established within the framework of the Hungarian Government's Healthcare Industry Support Program, emphasized by Varga Mihály. He highlighted that in a possible future pandemic situation, it is crucial to ensure high-quality healthcare even in cases of disruption in global supply chains. To achieve this, it was necessary to support domestic businesses' investments and research and development activities that can significantly contribute to strengthening the domestic healthcare industry.
One remarkable result of the program is the investment by Medicor, accompanied by substantial research and development. The minister emphasized that the collaboration between the staff, researchers, professors, and students of Obuda University, along with the employees of Medicor, led to the development of a uniquely versatile group ventilator system and two types of mobile hospital rooms, both of which are already in use.
Prof. Dr. Levente Kovács praised the collaboration between Medicor Zrt. and Obuda University, highlighting that due to the agreement reached in 2021, the revolutionary MassVentill project's desk model, initially developed at the university, has been transformed into a market-ready, approved product. With the support of Medicor and the government, the production of a marketable medical device can now commence.
MASSVENTIL – Obuda University's Response to the Challenges of Covid
During the development, a unique technology housed in a container was integrated into the system, capable of generating medical-grade oxygen and compressed air from the local air anywhere, anytime. The MASSVENTIL® mobile system is equipped with a specially designed data controller for each bed, which continuously collects data from the patient and the devices around the bed. This data is then sent to a central server, stored, and displayed. The significant advantage of this data collection and visualization is that it allows constant monitoring of each patient. Doctors and nurses can immediately identify which bed requires attention, prioritize patients in critical conditions, and maintain constant observation. This approach not only saves hospital personnel and working hours but also significantly enhances patient safety.
The MASSVENTIL® mobile hospital system can be applied during peacetime, such as the renovation of intensive care hospital rooms or the replacement and repair of liquid oxygen tanks. It is also applicable in emergency situations such as disasters, pandemics, or war-torn regions, functioning as a mobile, intensive, pandemic, or supplementary hospital facility.
As part of the project, MEDICOR's developers have also created a standalone, commercially viable infant and adult mechanical ventilator (CPAP) that excellently complements their neonatology product line.
In addition to the development, a significantly energy-efficient manufacturing and development facility equipped with the latest techniques and technologies has been built using substantial internal resources. Through this investment, MEDICOR Zrt. has created 50 new jobs and provided the opportunity for employment for an additional fifty individuals.
