Course Description:
The course provides students with an understanding of economic terms and relationships so that they can understand the principles of how the economy functions in a globalized world. Students will be able to understand economic behaviour, the causes of economic problems and the relevance of economic policy in dealing with such problems. Students will be able to use the knowledge to understand everyday economic issues.

Assessment: Attendance in classes is mandatory, maximum absences as described by Study and examination regulations. 2 presentations on a microeconomic and a macroeconomic issue (5 minutes each) by the designated deadline; compliance with scientific expectations is necessary. Materials of presentations must be uploaded to Moodle by the designated deadline. 2 tests in weeks no. 8 and 13. Giving presentations by the designated deadline is a condition for signature. Grading determined by tests and presentations (30%+30%+20%+20%). If 50% is not attained or better grade is wished, extra test (based on the whole curriculum) opportunity is in week no. 14 and in examination period. Exam grade that is completed during the year. Grading is determined by tests and presentations (30%+30%+20%+20%). The way to create an exam grade: 0-49%: insufficient (1); 50-62%: sufficient (2); 63-75%: medium (3); 76-88%: good (4); 89-100%: excellent (5). If 50% is not attained or better grade is wished, extra test (based on the whole curriculum) opportunity is in week no. 14 and in examination period.
