Obuda University invites Computer Science Engineering and Computer Science Operational Engineering students from higher education institutions to participate in the International Summer University – Crafting Code: Minecraft Modding Course organized by Obuda University to be held between 27.06.2024 – 10.07.2024 physically at Obuda University, Budapest.
The Minecraft course has an obligatory online pre-course and an optional post-course for extra credit. Also, we offer a rich intercultural programme for participants in the days before and after the Minecraft Modding course, introducing them to Hungarian culture, Budapest and the study programs at Obuda University.
Course name: Crafting Code: Minecraft Modding Course
Minecraft Modding Course description: Join our 1-week immersive programming course and unlock the exciting world of Minecraft modifications! This hands-on experience will take you on a journey of trial and error, teaching you how to create your own custom mods for Minecraft. Throughout the course, you’ll gain practical knowledge by diving into coding challenges and learning from mistakes.
But it’s not just all work! As part of the learning process, participants will also get the chance to play Minecraft and see their creations come to life in the game environment. By the end of this course, you’ll have the skills to bring your imagination to life in Minecraft and craft your very own unique gaming experience. Get ready to code, create, and play in the extraordinary world of Minecraft modifications!
The mission: Creating a unique tool and armor set, a new biome, custom items and recipes and a new ore! And then using all of these new tools, we will try to build the best Minecraft colony this realm has ever seen!

Intercultural programmes: campus tour at Obuda University, sightseeing tours in Budapest, city adventure, excursion in the Buda hills, tour to Szentendre, Hungarian cultural night. The detailed programme is attached.

Maximum number of participants: 14 students. A waiting list will be created in case of oversubscription.
Registration/participation fee: 150 €.
- Registration fee includes participation in all courses (3 or 4 ECTS). If you attend only the two mandatory courses (online pre-course: Basics of Minecraft, Minecraft Modding Course) you will receive a 50% discount on the registration fee.
- The registration fee is a contribution to the costs of the sandwich lunches during the Minecraft Modding course, sightseeing tours and Museum fees, and the closing dinner indicated in the programme. Registration/participation fee is not refundable even if you do not participate in all programs. Accepted participants will be informed about bank details and deadline for payment later.
- Costs covered by participants: the costs of accommodation, travel and meals must be covered by the participants. A sandwich lunch is provided on the course days.
- We can offer the participants a place in the university dormitory:
Kandó Kálmán Dormitory: 1034 Budapest, Bécsi út 104-108.- Price in 2-3 bedded room: 6540 HUF/person/night ( 17 € /night)
- Price for single room 10.900 HUF/person/night (approx. 27€ /night)
- Travel, insurance and visa arrangements are the responsibility of the participants. If you need a visa, we can send you a Letter of Acceptance that you can use for your visa application process. You need to indicate this at your registration.
- The registration fee for students of Obuda University for all courses (3 or 4 ECTS): 100 €, for only the two mandatory courses (2 ECTS): 50 €.
