Through its national and international interdisciplinary scientific and research activities, HECON promotes medical and technological innovation and its exploitation within education, the economy and the society.
The primary aim of HECON is to develop an integrated research and education strategy for health economics and health technology assessment, and in collaboration with the faculties and research centres of ÓU, initiating, planning, executing and supporting interdisciplinary research, innovation and fundraising activity in the field of medical-, engineering-, business- and economic sciences. Its key priority is to publish its research work in prestigious journals. Furthermore, HECON coordinates the activities at ÓU with the aim to perform state-of-the-art education and research in the field of health economics and health technology assessment. Our colleagues participate in talent management, offer PhD topics and supervision in Hungarian and English language, and help the preparation of PhD candidates for a successful scientific career.
HECON promotes the development and utilisation of innovative, value-based health technologies, helping scientific, economic and societal decision-making through the measurement, the development of measurement methods for, and evidence-based appraisal of their actual or predicted benefits. It develops its professional network with national and international players in the field of medical-, engineering-, business- and economic sciences as well as the healthcare sector, and contributes to the goals of Óbuda University by joint research activities, collaborative fundraising and representation in professional organisations.

- Analysis and synthesis of scientific evidence
- Technology assessment of innovative health technologies (measuring and modelling health outcomes, costs, cost-effectiveness, budget-impact and societal impact)
- Developing methods and instruments for the measurement of health, quality of life, health-related behaviours and attitudes
- Non-technological innovation
